উদ্দেশ্যহীন হাঁটতে হাঁটতে
আমার একটি আত্মহত্যা চুরি হয়ে গেছে।
একটা কাক অথবা কুকুর—
হতে পারে বিড়ালটিও,
এদের মধ্যেই কেউ
আমার আত্মহত্যাটি চুরি করে
লুকিয়ে রেখেছে ঝরা পাতার স্তূপে;
কিংবা একটা বিধ্বস্ত বাছুর
ডাস্টবিনের ময়লার সাথে ওটাও গিলেছে।
আমি আত্মহত্যাটি খোঁজার জন্য
হাঁটতে হাঁটতে খুঁজে বেড়াই বেয়াড়া বাছুর,
বিড়াল, কুকুর এবং কাক।
মনে হয়, এদের খোঁজার জন্যই
বেঁচে থাকা উচিত...

My Suicide Has Been Stolen
While walking aimlessly,
A suicide of mine has been stolen.
A crow or perhaps a dog—
It could even be the cat;
One of them must have
Stolen my suicide
And hidden it beneath a pile of fallen leaves.
Or perhaps, a devastated calf
Swallowed it along with the trash in the dustbin.
To find that suicide,
I walk and search for that wayward calf,
The cat, the dog, and the crow.
It seems, just to find them,
I ought to stay alive...
